Abstract

The essay examines the spread in southern Italy, during the first half of the nineteenth century, the thought of Thomas Reid (with James Battie, Gerge Campbell and Dugald Stewart) one of the proponents of the philosophy of common sense - and in particular focuses on the figure of the jurist Gaspar Capone that between 1834 and 1835 exposed to the members of the Academy of Sciences Royal Society of Naples four memories entitled "Sposizione de’ principali fondamenti della filosofia scozzese e della sua influenza nella francese odierna
