Abstract

We run a randomized control trial to assess the impact of a mentoring program aimed at reducing the time needed to get a degree for students who have not succeeded in passing all the exams within the prescribed period of time. Literature on graduation rate generally states that students outcomes are affected by financial barriers and liquidity constraints. This experiment shows that the effectiveness of mentoring largely depends on the method adopted, on the type of degree course, rather than students’ family income background.
