Abstract

The essay analizes a particular anthropological trait of exchange, namely its narrative value. Starting from Bronislaw Malinowski's classic considerations about the exchange of objescts in kula among peoples of Trobriand Islands, the essay inquires into cerimonial exchange, not only regarded as mechanismus that established a specific economy but as a way to found and produce individual and collective memory of the subjects involved in the exchange processes.
