Abstract

The chapter written by F.Frisone summarizes one of the clearest case of interventions in rituals in the Greek world, legislation concerning the control of funerals. Managing inscriptions as well as literary sources, the Author clarifies how innovations in the field of rituals were introduced by representative bodies of a polity or an organized group within the polis. Making reference to different instances, she also elucidates the way in which the ritual rules conveyed shared values and social roles also showing their changes in time.
