Abstract

The presentation of the Sanctuary of "San Michele Arcangelo" in Monte Sant'Angelo involves an introduction reporting its dedication (including the possible transformations of the dedication itself), its geographical location and its ecclesiastical administration. The text deals with the story of the venerated object, the history of the sanctuary, the anthropological and historical-artistic issues (architecture, sculptures, frescoes, relics and reliquaries). The textual sources related to the Sanctuary are also reported, as well as the secondary literature (bibliography). The presentation is enriched by an iconographical apparatus, reproducing ex-votos, cultual objects, artistic and archeological objects, architectural features.
