Abstract

The article deals with the novel that Sophie Gay published in 1844 in reply to Adolphe by Constant, who thanks to Planche was in fashion again. The aim of this study is to show how the changes made by Sophie Gay answer more to her need to adapt the story to the rules of the sentimental novel than to a feminist choice.
