Abstract

By means of enchantment, if in the metamorphoses by Ovidio (7,179-293) the regenerating nature regenerates a human being before he completes his exhisistential iter, in the Filocolo by Boccaccio the nature regenerates the nature and accelerates both the rebeginning and the mature status against the expected rhythms of the seasons. Ovidio docet by the topos of the garden blossoming out of season, between the miracolist christian tradition and the medieval magic, connected in a not religious way by Boccaccio for the courtly atmosphere: the intervention of the wizard is reduced to an ability challenge and almost an anticipation of the science progresses and it is not anymore an expression of pietas erga patrem but the answer to the capricious moods of a pleased and clever lady.
