L’archeografia delle architetture: modelli e percorsi per la progettazione concettuale dell’ArchiDb
Abstract
The complex nature of building construction and the dual nature of architectures (between appearance and function) led to limited methods of analysis: the study of surfaces has been privileged towards the three-dimensional body and synthesis prevailed over chronology. Developments in Archeology of Architectures have now demonstrated the need for a multidisciplinary approach, with interpretative tools fit for different kind of data. We propose the design of an archiving system for the archeological and architectural record, based on multi-scale organization of constructive entities. The basis of the system is the hierarchical model of the Reference Unit (RU) of G. Brogiolo, expanded in several aspects. The construction bodies are grouped in four groups depending by construction’s complexities: Spatial-Functional Unity, Structural Unity, Stratigraphic Unit and Attribute Elements. The system design aims to make data management and content repository easy and effective, suitable for simple and complex queries and capable to fit the complexity of building techniques.
