The politics of water management:bathing waters in Italy.

Abstract

The paper, on the basis of the available information and data coming mainly from official sources at the territorial level, shows those areas of the Italian coast that are most compromised by alteration of the state of the water resources, with reference to indicators and indices relating to various elements of the DPSIR framework: urban discharges, industrial waste and the use of agro-chemicals, as well as the policies aiming at better management of water resources, to ensure the prevention and reduction of the pollution of water bodies and make available resources for uses that are legitimate, sustainable and long-lasting in accordance with economic and rational principles.
