The accessibility in audiovisual products

Abstract

The paper, starting from the studies on the accessibility (Perego, 2005; Diaz-Cintas, 2005), presents the results of a research project on the techniques of audio description films for the enjoyment of them by people with blindness. The aim is to contribute to the definition of methodological and technical criteria for this kind of productions. The experimental part of our research is carried out on the feature film Kirikou and the Sorceress (Kirikou et la sorcière) of the 1998 audiovisual, written and directed by Michel Ocelot. The audiovisual is a multicode intersemiotic text (Lavaur e Şerban 2008) a fusion of sound component and visual component. In our research, was chosen the technique of voice-over audio description for the blind. The work proposed is based to research on the assessment of the benefits that have and audio description respect to the processes of teaching and learning with special educational needs students (Snyder 2006, Ferrell and Siller 2006, Palomo 2008), the literature on social inclusion and at European Concept For Accessibility (© 2012 ECA) based on the “Universal Design” ideas meant to produce products and environments that are accessible to people without disabilities and people with disabilities. to avoid any form of social exclusion and division of the disabled population.
