Abstract

In the field of the history of philosophy, the language of philosophy interacts directly with the social sciences when the survey focuses on the specific relationship existing between scientific research and the historical and social context of its activities. This article mentions the historical development of scientific thought and one of its most advanced theoretical results in order to highlight how, beyond the impact on the history and philosophy of science, the turning point imprinted by the new epistemological positions has then been extended also to the history of thought and culture. It can be seen this especially in connection with the re-evaluation of the role played by cultural and historical events in the theoretical development and with the consideration of the pervasive function of language in building overall image of reality.
