A New Public Bath in Trimithis (Amheida, Dakhla Oasis)

Abstract

Preliminary study of a Late-Antique bath found during the excavation at Amheida (Dakhla Oasis, Egypt) by the New York University Mission. The building is in mud and baked bricks and was abandoned while it was under restoration. A mosaic floor was in preparation. The bath was originally part of a larger Thermae of the Roman Imperial Period, abandoned at the end if the 3rd century AD. This large building was dismantled, but a part of survived and was adapted to Late Antique usage.
