Abstract

AIMS The 3D model of the face, obtained with 3D photogrammetric method, make possible a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of surface characteristics of soft tissues for a particular application, such as three-dimensional analysis of the lower cheek and upper lip, and distribution soft tissue in relation to the characteristics of hard tissue (dental-alveolar structure). MATERIALS AND METHODS A female normo-facial subject, considered very attractive in a National Beauty Competition, has been subjected to clinical analysis of orofacial features and to a photogrammetric capture of the face . On the obtained 3D model was made (by a qualitative and quantitative computer-assisted analysis) a comparison between the variations in the distribution of the soft tissues of the lower cheek and upper lip of the two face sides, considering also the characteristics of its dental and alveolar structure. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS The color map analysis of the 3D digital model shows small differences between the left and the right side: the slight asymmetry observed is reflected in the dento-alveolar arch, due to the impacted permanent canine and the retention of the deciduos canine on the right side, resepct to the left side.
