Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (10), in which fuel is introduced into a combustion chamber (14) of the engine (10) in one primary injection (HE) and at least one secondary injection (NE), characterized in that a first fuel quantity (qH) associated with the primary injection (HE) and a second fuel quantity (qN1, qN2) associated with at least one secondary injection (NE1, NE2) are each modified by a predeterminable extent, in particular in order to vary a torque (Mi) output by the engine (10).
